I do the social studies and history classes with Mr Ivan, and the lessons are not only able to keep me hooked for long periods of time, but is also able to clear up any misconceptions or confusion I ever had from the lessons with my school history teachers. As someone with a short attention span, I usually find it difficult to stay focused for over half an hour, but these lessons keep me engaged and make me want to find out what happens next in the content (for history). I have never been so clear with the history content before, 100/10!

One of the best tuition centers I went to. I joined in mid July, and went from failing SS to getting a B3 in my prelims. Mr Ivan is the best SS teacher to ever teach me, his lessons are fun, interactive and engaging. Mr Ivan's patience allowed me to understand every single thing taught during his lessons. Overall, Mr Ivan is a great teacher and he can definitely help you ace your SS.

I love howit helps at late at night timings so it will not clash with my cca. additionally the teacher mr ivan can use like extremely good singlish so that it makes teh class more entertaining as well as more fun for the all of us. he goes through how to answer the qns before we answer the qns so we know how to answer the qns. yeah. this is teh reason why i love coming to this place

After learning from Mr Ivan, I believe that his teaching ability directly comes from his academic prowess, of which he has proven to be extensively capable and knowledgeable in the content of Social Studies. During his class, he often elaborates on key areas of our notes and knows when to highlight higher priority sentences for our benefit. This shows that he is hard-working and passionate in his subject which in turn helps inspire the rest of the students in his class and better ready us for our exams. Because of his preparedness and experience as a Ministry of Education trained teacher, I am able to gain more understanding of chapters that I often struggle with. Additionally, I have observed that his conversational skills are increadibly qualified and has led me to regard him highly as a teacher. He is able to discern the mood of the classroom and spotlights the usually quiet students to help bring out their skills. He has a patience that allows students to grow at their own pace and a humourous style of speech that brings joy to learning. He delegates sufficient time to every student and prevents them from feeling left out or disregarded. I have grown exponentially under his tutelage due to the personal comments and feedback he has provided me on my work. Futhermore, Mr Ivan is very considerate of all his students. He is meticulous in the seating arrangements of every class so that the students can increase in their attentiveness in class. This amount of care and attention he puts into teaching us is greatly appreciated due to the results that they produce. He delivers entertaining lessons that encourages the participantion of all students to speak their own mind and share opinions. Through these mannerisms, the class becomes more interconnected and these lessons become periods of time that I look forward to. In conclusion, I believe that Mr Ivan is respectable teacher who puts in much effort into his work and equally as much into his students. His qualifications are proof that he has deeply integrated himself into his career, increasing in competency through his journey in education. Having attended numerous group tuition classes before, I can confidently say that I have never met a single teacher as capable as Mr Ivan of the SS and History Tuition Classes offered by Illum.e. Whilst most teachers might struggle at managing rambunctious students and ensure proper learning, Mr Ivan is able to confidently and smoothly facilitate learning sessions and convey key points in a fun and engaging manner without depreciating their educational value. He has particularly helped with the Militarist Japan chapter in the History Syllabus, which has been a real head-scratcher for quite some time. Having a reliable and confident teacher take the lead and provide useful information and tips for everyone in class gives me confidence in tackling questions related to Militarist Japan.

When I entered illume for many subjects: Social Studies, Geography and Physics, I was failing at all of the subjects stated and was expecting like the other tuitions as I still have not found any improvement when I joined the other tuition centre. However, with the illume having a conducive environment for substantial learning and the provision of drinks and candy helps students to focus and able to stay focused for a longer time as the lesson is very hard core and will be of alot of use for students who requires more attention from teachers. With good teachers, it must also come with good practise papers. They provide O-level to Pure level questions which is very helpful to students who are very hardworking. Finally, I want Mr Ivan, Mr Lee and Mr Raam to be recognized as one of my GOATED teachers as they are very supportive and easily paraphrase difficult topics for people(like me) to understand. After a year with them, I have gotten from failing to getting 2 grade jumps (which have never happened to me before). All in all, I urge you to join illume!

Really enjoyed the thoughtfully lessons and notes given. The teacher for my SS and History, Mr Ivan, is extremely experienced and provides engaging lessons. Overall it has helped me to see my weak points and how I could do better. Moreover Mr Ivan's overseas exposure to History and SS scenes outside of Singapore allows him to give me deeper insights and knowledge of different perspectives in these subjects.
